 At first glance it is peculiar that Avicenna's arguments against atomism and his proof for the existence of the soul have anything to do with one another, but at a closer look it becomes clear that there is a relationship between the two. Since Avicenna is trying to prove that the intelligible form (i.e. the soul) has no relationship to corporeality, he must prove that the body is not part of the intelligible form.
