Letter from Diogenes CXCVIII
Letter CXCVIII
The same to Aristippus; concerning Alexander's desire to see him.
You send me word that Alexander, King of Macedon, has a great desire to see me. You did well to give him that title, for whatever the Macedonians may be, you know I am not subject to anybody. If Alexander has a mind to be acquianted with me, and my manner of life, let him come here, for I shall always think Athens as far different from Macedon, as Macedon is from Athens. Farewell.
