<blockquote>Chap. XIX. That Demosthenes refused, being called by Diogenes to goe into a Cook's Shop. As on a time Diogenes was at Dinner in a Cook's Shop, he called to Demosthenes who passed by. But he taking no notice, “Do you think it a disparagement, Demosthenes, (said he) to come into a Cook's Shop? your Master comes hither every day” ; meaning the Common people, and implying that Oratours and Lawyers are Servants of the Vulgar.
